Blooming & Spring
For a number of years I regularly made paintings of blossoms. Japanese art was an important source of inspiration. The branches are created almost naturally by the ink flowing over the linen. There are many layers of colour under the white, creating depth.
Birds also belong to spring in my view. They are a beautiful symbol of freedom. Birds constantly have the choice to be here on the ground or to spread their wings. Birds express a wish shared by many of us: to be able to fly away.
