Ekkie: from the series You Lucky Bird.

A magpie with one wing that often visited our garden. It seemed to be coping well, partly because another magpie was watching over it. I gave him extra sultanas 😉 and when I called Ekkie he would come jumping with one wing and a crooked tail.

But even in the animal kingdom the vulnerable don't always make it.......
I found it sad. I missed that perky walk of his. The cheeky bravado. Those beady eyes.

So I made a little painting of him, with 2 wings. Because I think he will be complete again in the animal afterlife. 🥰
